Introduction

We race under the Stock Outboard boat racing division of the Canadian Boating Federation and the American Power Boat Association.  It's grass roots racing similar to Go-Karts but we are always at the water instead of cooking on the asphalt.  Stock Outboard racing is sanctioned, outboard powered boat racing with commercially available equipment running on standard gasoline.  It's circle racing on a 1.25 mile oval with flying starts and a 12 boat maximum per heat.  Hydroplanes and Racing Runabouts are your options with speeds ranging from 35mph to 80 mph.  This class diversity lets anyone participate from age 9, with an emphasis on family involvement.  Stock Outboard racing is unique because of the tight competition and camaraderie among participants.

We are currently racing in two classes.   "A" Stock Hydroplane (ASH) and "A" Stock Runabout (ASR).  Both utilize the same size engine.  These are the two most competitive classes in Stock Outboard racing in North America and have a wide age of participants.

In the 1997 season we put in 15 days of racing plus the week long U.S. APBA Nationals.  We competed in races across Ontario, New York, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.  Some of these events had coverage in local newspapers and television stations and the Team Gang~Green ASR boat was shown racing in first place on prime-time news in Toledo.  We also were highlighted on the Speedvision tv show "Inside The APBA" for winning the US North East Divisionals.
